This is based on the true story of a racist raid In rural Texas
during the 2000 presidential election. Powerful district attorney ( Calvin Beckett)
launches a series of wide ranging of some 30 adult African Americans in a small
community that includes the Arlington springs housing projects one of its
residents is a waitress Dee Roberts a divorced mother of four who is falsely
arrested as a drug dealer. Pressured to confess Roberts refuses and becomes a
fighter for truth and justice with the help of ACLU attorney David Cohen and
former local narcotics officer Sam Conroy. Becketts popular raid is blatantly
racist and the people he has arrested have been accused on the basis of
uncorroborated accusations by a single police informat who is himself facing
drug charges. In the end justice was served Dee Roberts won the case but beckett still remaind in office. After seeing this movie it really showed me that people
really abuse their authority of power and the fact that after Becktt did all of
this he stills remand in office.
